Nintendo 64 GoldenEye 007 coming to Switch and XBOX
The iconic James Bond video game GoldenEye 007 will be released for Nintendo Switch Online and Xbox Game Pass.
The Nintendo 64 classic game will be available soon on the Nintendo Switch Online service in HD. Microsoft will release a 4K resolution remaster on Xbox Game Pass.
Microsoft confirmed that a 4K resolution remaster of GoldenEye 007 is on its way to Xbox Game Pass
Exclusive to the new Switch version of the 1997 title will be online play, allowing 007 fans across the world to take part in the popular four person multiplayer mode together.
In the game, based on the 1995 film, players control James Bond through a series of levels following the GoldenEye film story. In multiplayer mode, up to four players can compete in split-screen mode, playing out several scenarios based on elements from You Only Live Twice, The Man With the Golden Gun, The Living Daylights and Licence to Kill.
GoldenEye 007 was released shortly before the release of the GoldenEye sequel Tomorrow Never Dies and despite low expectations from the gaming media, it sold more than eight million copies, making it the third-best-selling Nintendo 64 game (after Super Mario 64 and Mario Kart 64). The game received critical acclaim and is one of the most influential and seminal games of the first-person shooter genre. In 1998, it received the BAFTA Interactive Entertainment Games Award and four awards from the Academy of Interactive Arts & Sciences.
