A rare and highly sought-after Aston Martin DB5 Vantage is set to go under the hammer on August 30th 2024. This particular example, once showcased at the prestigious Geneva Motor Show in 1965, is one of just 60 DB5 Vantages ever produced.

The DB5 has chassis nr DB5/2021/L and engine nr 400/2025/V.
With its matching-numbers engine, gearbox, and rear differential, as well as its original body stampings, this DB5 is a testament to its authentic heritage.

According to the accompanying factory build record copy, this DB5 Vantage, chassis 2021/L, was allocated to be the 1965 Geneva Motor Show car, believed to showcase the introduction of the Vantage engine.

One of just 20 left-hand-drive examples built of a total 60 DB5 Vantages, it was delivered by Swiss Aston Martin dealer and Le Mans racer Hubert Patthey to Dr. Victor Gross in Bern, Switzerland. The car has remained in Switzerland ever since; changing ownership just twice in this time. A purchase invoice on file documents that it was purchased for 7,000 Swiss francs on July 26, 1973 by Virgile Habegger, a noted collector who acted as a caring and respectful custodian of this rare, original car for 49 years, until the consignor, a well-known Aston Martin collector, acquired it from his estate in 2022.
The car will be auctioned by Gooding & Company during their London Live Auction on August 30, 2024 at 3 PM BST.
