Auction results Sir Roger Moore: The Personal Collection
Bonham's auctioned items from Sir Roger Moore's personal collection today in London. Here are some of the results of the James Bond related items, including the lot that fetched the highest price!
The 180-lot sale of Moore's personal collection was being offered directly by Sir Roger Moore's family, and included important Bond memorabilia, collectables and personal ephemera.
The Personal Collection of Sir Roger Moore was 100% sold on Wednesday 4 October 2023 at Bonhams New Bond Street, London. The auction ran from 1pm until 10.20pm with bidding from around the world.
The 224-lot achieved a total of £1,117,300, against a pre-sale high estimate of £415,300.
Suits and ties
Several of Moore's suits that were made for James Bond films were sold, see an overview of suits and the final prices.
A Cyril Castle navy cashmere double-breasted Chesterfield coat made for Sir Roger Moore in his first Bond film Live And Let Die (1973) sold for £19,200 inc. premium.
A Douglas Hayward grey flannel three-piece suit made for Sir Roger Moore in For Your Eyes Only (1981) sold for £10,880 inc. premium.
A Douglas Hayward single-button mohair dinner suit jacket made for Sir Roger Moore in Octopussy (1983) sold for £11,520 inc. premium.
A double-breasted mohair dinner suit reputedly by Angelo Roma and believed to have been made for Sir Roger Moore in The Spy Who Loved Me (1977) sold for £23,040 inc. premium.
A Douglas Hayward grey herringbone three-piece morning suit made for Sir Roger Moore in A View To A Kill (1985) sold for £10,240 inc. premium.

Four sets of Moore's personal neckties were offered and all sold, with the dark blue / grey collection of ties fetching the most: £12,160 inc. premium.
Watches
Several watches were on offer (many without a Bond connection), but perhaps the most surprisingly high price was realized by a Swatch Irony The Spy Who Loved Me watch. It didn't mention in the Lot description if this watch was actually ever worn by Roger Moore, but it sold for a staggering £8,320 inc. premium (you can find these watches on eBay for approx £200).
A highlight of the auction was an Omega Seamaster 300 50 Years limited edition.

This Omega 50th Anniversary Edition with special Roger Moore engraving had an estimate of £20,000 - 30,000, but finally sold for £57,550 inc. premium.

Highest priced item
But the highest price of the auction was fetched by a The Swatch James Bond Collection with a plaque engraved "for Mr. Roger Moore".

The set had an estimate of £10,000 - £20,000, but after a fierce bidding competition the hammer went down at £60,000 which totals £76,600 including premiums.

Miscellaneous items

Also on auction a nice piece of The Saint memorabilia: the Corgi Club 258 Volvo P1800 with The Saint decal to the bonnet with miniature Simon Templar (Sir Roger Moore) figure in red interior.
This car sold for £3,840 inc. premium, which is a steep price for an unboxed model Corgi P1800, but the car is in perfect condtion. Find these, without the Roger Moore provenance, on eBay for $15 - $200 depending on the condition.

A Corgi 'icon' figure of Sir Roger Moore as James Bond, and an Eaglemoss die-cast scale model of the Citroen 2CV in For Your Eyes Only (£150 - £200), sold for £1408 inc premium.
Sir Roger Moore's extensively used (from 1991-2001) British passport was another highlight of the auction and it didn't disappoint with a final price of £12,160 inc. premium.

Another hightlight of the auction was this large red simulated leather backgammon case belonging to Sir Roger Moore.
Used during breaks on set of the filming of James Bond with Cubby Broccoli, the hinged case with carrying handle and brass plaque mounted to one corner engraved ROGER MOORE.
