Omega unveils new Seamaster Planet Ocean
Omega has introduced the latest generation of the Seamaster Planet Ocean, marking a major evolution of the brand’s professional dive-watch line.

The new model refines the design language of the collection while maintaining the technical specifications that have defined the Planet Ocean since its debut in 2005. The release is notable not only as a key moment in Omega’s dive-watch history, but also because of the Planet Ocean’s prominent role throughout the Daniel Craig era of James Bond.

A New Direction for the Planet Ocean
According to Omega’s press release, the new Seamaster Planet Ocean returns to a 42 mm case size, a departure from the larger formats that characterised earlier generations. The redesign introduces sharper lines, more angular lugs, and a slimmer profile, creating a more streamlined appearance on the wrist.
A major change is the removal of the helium-escape valve traditionally positioned at 10 o’clock. Its omission creates a cleaner case silhouette while the watch retains its 600 m water-resistance rating.

The collection includes multiple configurations, with black, blue, and orange dial-and-bezel combinations available on either a stainless-steel bracelet or rubber strap. Each model is powered by the METAS-certified Master Chronometer calibre 8912, resistant to magnetic fields of 15,000 gauss and featuring a free-sprung balance with silicon balance spring. As with previous generations, a unidirectional diving bezel, screw-down crown, and domed sapphire crystal remain part of the standard specifications.
A Campaign Featuring Two High-Profile Actors
Omega has launched the new Planet Ocean with a global campaign fronted by actors Aaron Taylor-Johnson and Glen Powell. Both appear wearing the new watch in the official promotional materials released by Omega.

Taylor-Johnson, who joined Omega as an ambassador earlier in 2025, has been the subject of recurring speculation regarding the future casting of James Bond. Powell, also featured prominently in the campaign, is a long-time Omega wearer and self-professed Bond fan, further strengthening the thematic connection.
Although no official Bond tie-ins accompany this release, the choice of campaign ambassadors reinforces the long-standing cultural association between Omega’s dive watches and the world of 007.
The Planet Ocean in the Bond Film Series
The Planet Ocean has played a central role in the James Bond films for over a decade, particularly during the Daniel Craig era. Its presence on screen has contributed significantly to the model’s profile among collectors.

Casino Royale (2006)
Bond wears the first-generation Planet Ocean 600m with 45.5 mm case (ref. 2900.50.91). The black-dial diver appears in multiple key scenes, including the Madagascar chase.
Quantum of Solace (2008)
A 42 mm variant of the same reference family (ref. 2201.50.00) is used for Craig’s second outing.
Skyfall (2012)
Bond is equipped with the second-generation Planet Ocean 600m (ref. 232.30.42.21.01.001). The watch features updated hands and case profile and appears throughout the film, including the opening sequence in Istanbul. Omega also produced a Skyfall-themed limited edition based on this reference.
