Scalextric makes new Bond set: Aston Martin and Alfa Romeo in Quantum of Solace
Hornby-owned Scalextric has revealed plans for special 007 slot car racing games with, in association with the new movie Quantum of Solace, due out in November.
Scalextric announced this week that the second, or "chase", car in its set, alongside Bond's silver Aston Martin DBS, will be a black Alfa Romeo 159. This reveals the fact that an Alfa Romeo 159 will most likely be featured as the bad guys car of choice in Quantum of Solace. This will be the second time that an Alfa Romeo will be featured in a Bond movie, the first being a grey GTV6 in the 1983 movie Octopussy (read more about the Alfa Romeo GTV6 here).
Scalextric will be offering a number of sets for fans including a limited edition twin pack complete with the Aston Martin DBS and the Alfa Romeo 159. Track length will be 532cm.
"We're delighted to have the licence for James Bond. Scalextric was very strong last year, largely because of the Lewis Hamilton effect," said chief executive Frank Martin.
Racing fans will also be able to get a Scalextric digital set and a micro digital set.
