Brioni Floral Shirt Die Another Day
James Bond's blue floral shirt worn in Die Another Day (2002) is a custom made shirt by Italian tailor house Brioni.
The shirt appeared in 2017 at an auction in the UK and more recently as Lot #268 on the Prop Store Entertainment Memorabilia auction in September 2018 where it was sold for £2,767.50 (approx. €3140 / $3600) to a Bond fan in Germany.
The garment at the auction screen-matches to the scenes in Cuba (filmed in Cadiz, Spain) when Bond meets cigar factory owner (and MI6 ally) Raoul (played by Emilio Echevarría), drives in his 1957 Ford Fairlane, and meets NSA agent Jinx (Hallo Berry).
The shirt is made from 100% linen and shows an embroidered floral pattern. According to the new owner of the shirt, the material is quite thick, not what you'd expect from seeing it in the movie.
The six white buttons attached to the front have a Brioni logo, and a Brioni label with “1” handwritten in black is adhered to the inside.
Brioni provided many shirts and suits for Pierce Brosnan in his Bond films. Brioni shirts can clearly be spotted in Die Another Day when Bond is shaving off his beard with a Philips shaver in The Rubyeon Royale Hotel in Hong Kong. In one camera shot of Bond's presidential suite we see brand new white and blue Brioni shirts and suits, next to a cooler with Bollinger champagne and a round, transparent packaging with the Philishave logo (in the US versions of the film, the packaging features a Norelco logo).
Daniel Craig wore a Brioni tuxedo in Casino Royale before Tom Ford took over for the following films.
Complete the look
In the same scenes, Bond wears navy linen trousers, brown suede chukka boots (perhaps Church's, as Brosnan wore several Church's shoes in his Bond films), and Persol 2672 sunglasses. Also check out the Birds of the West Indies by James Bond book that he uses for his cover as an ornithologist. And he drinks from a William Yeoward Double Old Fashioned Tumbler.
