The Submariner in the picture above is a 16610. Sean wore a 6538, Roger wore a 5513, and Timothy wore a 16800. Roger never wore a 1675 GMT. Only Pussy Galore wore a GMT.

Rolex, the watch for people with more money than brains. That should be Rolex's slogan. I'm so glad 007 switched to Omega. A little known fact, Omega has actually been around since 1848 while Rolex has only been around since 1905. While Rolex was originally formed in England, Omega has more of a historic presence. The Omega Speedmaster was the first and only watch to ever leave Earth's atmosphere in the space crafts. Omegas are just all round beautiful and durable watches.

thats NOT really a little known fact since a quick visit to Wikipedia could tell anyone this information. Just because something is older does not necessarily make it better, I wouldnt buy an RCA television over a samsung, would you?

This is simply unture, when you consider Russians have been in space as well and brought their own Vostoks or Poljots. Im also pretty sure Bulova Accutrons have also left the earths surface, and also the many digital time instruments found on the space craft (i'll assume you meant mechanical wrist watches tho).

I agree BUT their flagship movement isnt as good as Rolexs' worst, and cant seem to match Rolex quality control and construction. Steel grade is one example, and assembly; Swatch owns factories in the far east that makes disposable movements. ONE thing Omega does have over Rolex is the Co-axial escapement, but Rolex has KIF and the new "Parachrom Bleu" hairspring.

Dont get me wrong, OMEGAS are great value and original in their own right, I really love the speedmaster, but putting flagship models head to head im fairly certain Rolex is the winner in a technical competition. Style is another matter as I personally prefer the speedmaster to the daytona.

Omega falls slightly short, but I guess the difference is reflected in the price gap.

YEP. the current NASA issue Omega X-33 has proven MOST unreliable during space missions. Maybe why Russians use the swiss made watch Fortis for all their missions, and if everything goes according to plan will be the first watch on MARS. (although FORTIS DO use ETA movements...so I guess OMEGA is *ALSO* the first watch on mars ? )

I wish Bond would go back to the Submariner. I have one and love it. The Omega is a great watch, don't get me wrong but nothing beats the Rolex for timeless style and on the plus side in the words of a friend of mine that was in some alphabet agency "no matter what a Rolex will always get you a plane ticket out of any country" so I am never without my Submariner.

My Submariner is my favourite watch because it has such understated class. The Oyster links seem to match the unfussy nature of this watch . My most durable watch however is my Breitling superocean which constantly takes a good battering - however a watchmaker I know will not rate the movement!

I'm a young bond fan on a college student's budget, and I've recently purchased a "Timex Men's T2M561 R-Series" and I've got to say i'm quite pleased with it. I figure, if i'm going to buy a fake rolex, it might as well be from a legitimate company, haha.

After doing some research, seeing as how Ian Fleming would dress bond as he would dress himself, even his choice in watches mustve been identical. Ian Fleming wore a Rolex Oyster Perpetual Explorer model. im assuming the literary bond would have worn the same. however i do love the overall choices the films have selected so far. I would love to own an Omega one day. but for now i purchase Philip Persio's Submariner Presidential series watches. they resemble the Rolex and Omega in many ways and they are just as immaculate and dapper.

There is absolutely no competition between a Rolex and a omega. The Rolex is by far the superior watch and it's the watch that Fleming himself had in mind for Bond. End of.

Obviously you do not know about Rolex's history. Rolex was the first watch to be waterproof hence the Oyster name and the first automatic wind up watch hence the Perpetual written on their dials. Also if you have a look at the Omega in the latest James Bond film it is a direct send up of the Submariner that Sean Connery wore, those orange dial markings is a give away.

I have a 2004 Rollie sub. Have had an Omega. Have a number of Seiko divers and some quite high end JDM Seikos too. The guy who takes care of his wife and kids wearing a g-shock and doesn't gives a rat's a$$ about what's he is wearing and who doesn't judge others by what watch the other dude has on is the winner in my book. Trying to get there myself...

I read some comments where someone says that Rolex is a watch for people with more money than brains. What a shitload of crap is this. I don't know why this has been said, the only reason I can think of is "pure jealousy ", Rolex beats every other watch brand and this has nothing to do with age !. The best Bond movies were the ones with Connery and Moore and their Rolexes. So think again before posting such a load of B S.

bb, I absolutely agree. I love the style of both and cannot stop staring into my submariner. It's not the watch that matters, it is the person. Best of luck.

Sean Connery borrowed the Rolex Submariner he wore in the early Bond Films Dr. No - Thunderball from producer A. Broccoli and actually used a modified Breitling Top Time in Thunderball which he was personally fond of. Bottom line unlike Paul Newman's Rolex Daytona whom which he personally owned and wore for decades (and fetched $17M at auction) and Steve McQueen who wore a Monaco Heuer (eventually Tag Heuer) there is only a connection to a character James Bond not a real person such as Sean Connery. I would much rather be interested in the watch if Mr. Connery personally chose it rather than a prop he is seen wearing.
