I have the 2000 2.8 six cylinder .. everything you write in this is spot-on, except you are seriously underselling the joy this car is to drive. I put sway bars into the suspension, and the back subframe has been fine ever since. Also, steel brake lines are a good improvement over aging hoses. Redoing the ODBC chip is a good idea for the 4-cylinder if you want to make it a bit more aggressive. I eventually reset my computer back to stock.
