Theotoky Aspro wine
When James Bond (Roger Moore) dines with Aristotle Kristatos (Julian Glover) in For Your Eyes Only (1981), Agent 007 orders a bottle of ‘Theotoky Aspro’ (Aspro is Greek for white).
Kristatos:
"May I suggest a white Robola wine from Cephalonia, my home place?"
James Bond:
"If you'll forgive me, if find that a little too scented for my palate. I prefer the Theotoki Aspro."
At the time of the movie Theotoky was already a famous wine producer on Corfu, but they didn’t know the wine was mentioned in the film until it came out in the cinemas.
The oldest label they found in their archive was from 1970 and it stayed the same till 1990 (pictured on the left).
At that time the white Theotoky wine was made from Kakotrigis grapes. Nowadays the wine is made from Robola grapes (ironically, as Bond specifically mentions in the film he finds the Robola too scented for his palate) and everything is farmed organic.
A videoscreen at the estate playing a clip from the film shows the winery is still very proud of the connection with James Bond.
