Aston Martin DB5 owned by Duran Duran founder heads to Auction
Online car platform Car & Classic has announced its inaugural Collector Edition auction, featuring rare cars including an Aston Martin DB5, a Lamborghini Countach, Bentleys and Ferraris.

For Bond fans, the highlight of the auction is a 1965 Aston Martin DB5 Sports Saloon finished in the unmistakable Silver Birch over Elephant Grey leather interior, mirroring the car made famous in Goldfinger.

According to the auction house, this particular example was restored by former owner John Taylor, bassist and founding member of Duran Duran, who ensured it matched the on-screen Bond DB5 perfectly.

Taylor’s band also performed the theme song for the 1985 Roger Moore film A View to a Kill, giving this example an unmistakable link between music and movie history.

Benefitting from comprehensive restorations by GTC Engineering and Shapecraft, first in the 1980s and again in 2000, the car is presented in excellent mechanical and aesthetic condition. The Marek straight-six engine has been rebuilt to 4.2-litre specification and paired with a manual gearbox; the odometer currently reads 56,934 miles.
Another highlight is an ultra-rare 1980 Lamborghini Countach LP400 S Series II, one of only 105 ever produced. Finished in its original Lamborghini Argento Metallizzato livery, the car has covered 65,246 km and retains its authentic factory specification.

The Countach runs on a 3,929 cc V12 engine with 370 horsepower, reaching 0 to 100 km/h in 5.9 seconds and a top speed of 264 km/h. Inside, it has hand-finished black leather seats, and the dashboard has been completely reupholstered in Alcántara.

First registered in May 1980, the LP400 S offers collectors a rare opportunity to own a well-preserved example of Lamborghini’s iconic supercar, featuring its signature wing doors.
The Car & Classic Collector Edition Auction features a handpicked catalogue spanning legendary brands including Bentley, Ferrari, Aston Martin, and Porsche, offering everything from vintage icons to modern classics.
Viewings are available across Europe. Most vehicles are located in our Winchester storage facility with viewings on 6th & 8th November.
The Collector Edition sale is now available for pre-bidding, with lots closing online at 3 pm GMT on Saturday, 15 November.
