Sunspel Sea Island Cotton Autumn 2021 collection inspired by Ian Fleming

This autumn, Sunspel once again releases a Ian Fleming inspired collection of Sea Island Cotton pieces.

Earlier Sunspel Ian Fleming collections were released in 2018 and the Winter Collection in 2020.

Ian Fleming and Sunspel have a natural affinity, a shared appreciation of Sea Island cotton. A preferred fabric both for Fleming’s own wardrobe and that of his iconic creation James Bond. Sea Island cotton is one of the world’s most luxurious fabrics, making up only 0.0004% of the world’s cotton supplies.

Sea Island Cotton has an incredibly soft, silk-like handle that feels unbelievably soft against the skin. Sunspel has been working with this rare cotton since the 19th century. The name and archive Sunspel logos are references to the Caribbean ‘sunny spells’ and rain showers required for growing it. Read more about the Sunspel logo on the Sunspel website.

Fleming wore Sea Island cotton when writing at Goldeneye, his estate in Jamaica, and his literary creation, James Bond, can be found wearing Sea Island shirts and boxer shorts in From Russia With Love, Moonraker, Diamonds are Forever, Live and Let Die and On Her Majesty’s Secret Service.
