Dell Latitude 12 Rugged Extreme

Q (Ben Whishaw) uses a Dell Latitude 12 Rugged Extreme 7204 convertible notebook in No Time To Die. Q uses the Dell laptop in many scenes throughout the film: from his house to M's office and the C-17 Globemaster airplane. Q also seems to own a very similar Dell Latitude 12 Rugged Tablet Extreme (which is just a tablet, without the keyboard).

The Dell Latitude 12 Rugged Extreme convertible notebook can be seen in several photos in the book No Time To Die: The Making Of The Film on pages 123, 136 and 138. In his laboratory Q also uses another Dell laptop and in the airplane he uses a Alienware laptop.

When James Bond and Moneypenny visit Q at his house, they give him a USB stick which he puts in the left side of the Dell laptop to scan the contents. After he finds hidden files, he takes the USB stick out of the laptop and sticks it in his PC (make unknown). The laptop is positioned on a Amazon Basics laptop stand.

Later in the film Q carries the laptop into M's office and he opens it to show the images of the deceased family members of SPECTRE and explain more about the Nanobots to M, James Bond, Moneypenny, Tanner and Nomi.

In the C17 airplane we get the best view of the Dell Latitude 12 Rugged Extreme notebook, when James Bond, Nomi and Q talk to M.

About the Dell Latitude 12 Rugged Extreme convertible notebook

The Dell Latitude 12 Rugged Extreme 7204 (or possibly 7214 which seems identical) is a very sturdy laptop. The touchscreen can be flipped to make the device more like a tablet.

It's an extremely impressive laptop: the device can withstand extreme temperatures and situations, is water and dust resistant, the screen can be read in all types of difficult light conditions, and the touchscreen and pad can be used while wearing gloves... and much more. The case is extremely durable and made from powder-coated magnesium.

The laptop comes with a stylus on a wire, which can also be seen in photos of Q and the laptop. Q's laptop doesn't have the optional carry handle at the front. Q's laptop also doesn't have the removable antenna handle in front of the laptop. 

The Dell Latitude 12 Rugged Extreme comes in three different Intel CORE CPU powers: i3, i5 or i7. The working RAM can be upgraded up to 16GB, while the storage can either be a regular HD or SSD.

Q's laptop also has a backlit keyboard (as can be seen in his house), which is an option for this model. The backlight of the keys can actually be set to different colors, but Q uses a white/blue backlight colour.

Buying Guide

The retail price of a new Dell Latitude 12 Rugged Extreme can reach thousands of dollars depending on the selected options, but a used Dell Latitude 7204 can easily be found on eBay for $250 and up depending on the condition of the device.

I bought my Dell 7204 on eBay, from the seller SUM Computers (broncos on eBay, visit their store), who provided me with great personal service and a perfect working laptop. They have several of the 7204 models in stock.

Ideally you want a 7204 model, without a handlebar but with Keyboard Backlight and Stylus. There are models with a Handlebar that is removable (then you still have the two front Bumpers) but there is also a Antenna Handlebar, which is only removable by unscrewing it, removing the antenna wire, and then you would have to buy new black bumpers, otherwise, the device wouldn't have any bumpers on the front (this is what I currently have, I will replace the Antenna handlebar with black bumpers soon, stay tuned).

If you really want to use the device for work then you can look for a faster SSD hard drive, a fast processor (it goes from Intel i3, i5 to the fastest i7). Make sure the touch screen still works, and check if there are photos of the dust/water seals on the side and back latches, those are sometimes worn out.

The Dell 7204 can come with or without webcams: one on the screen and one on the bottom of the device. And you can check if there is a Wifi receiver included so you can easily connect to the internet. Many Dell 7204 also don't come with an OS (Windows) installed so that's something you might want to check, if you're not able to install it yourself.

About the Dell Latitude 12 Rugged Extreme Tablet

Q also owns the tablet version of the Dell Latitude 12 Rugged Extreme, which can be spotted on a behind the scenes photo, and on a laptop stand in Q's laboratory while he's examining the mechanical SPECTRE eye. We never see Q use the tablet, as opposed to the notebook which is used several times.
The exact model number is not known, but it looks like a 7212 pictured here (click image to enlarge).

Amazon Basics Laptop stand

In Q's house, the Dell Latitude 12 Rugged Extreme 7204 notebook is placed on a black Amazon Basics Laptop Stand.

D-Mount DL-JK10 Laptop Stand

While Q is cracking the SPECTRE digital / mechanical eye in his laboratory, we can see another Dell Rugged tablet (most likely the Dell Latitude 12 Rugged Tablet Extreme) sitting on a D-Mount DL-JK10 height adjustable aluminum laptop desk stand (read more). This laptop stand seems to be only available on AliExpress, for $42.

In his house, Q also has a Dell KM714 Wireless Keyboard and WM514 Wireless Mouse and two LG monitors, all connected to the PC computer. More Dell laptops and screens can be seen in the film.
