Montblanc Meisterstuck fountain pen

James Bond uses a Montblanc Meisterstück fountain pen in Octopussy (1983), which has a gadget function added by Q Branch.

The Montblanc Meisterstück pen is part of a great Q-Branch scene in which James Bond (Roger Moore) is introduced to not only the pen but also to his Seiko G757 tracker watch and homing device / microphone and the iconic Seiko TV Watch.

Q: "Now take a fountain pen. Twist the top and a highly concentrated mixture of nitric and hydrochloric acid dissolves all metals”.
007: “Wonderful for poison pen letters”.
Q: "Pay attention, 007!"

Q (Desmond Llewelyn) continues to show the top of the pen, which can be taken out and contains an earpiece, a listening device connected to the bug that has been placed in the Fabergé Egg.

Later in the film, James Bond uses the acid in the pen to remove the bars of his prison room in Kamal Khan's Palace.

The pen seen in the film is either a Meisterstück 146 or the bigger Meisterstück 149 and has a pinstriped body. The top was modified, or at least not an exact existing model pen as Montblanc pens always have the black and white Montblanc 'snow' logo on the top. Maybe the production design had to change the pen because the top of the pen is part of the gadget function (it can be taken out and doubles as the earpiece).

The Montblanc Meisterstück is still available, although the design has ben slightly updated, and comes in a variety of colours and materials. Prices also vary from $400 to thousands of dollars depending on the materials used or limited edition models.

Montblanc is mentioned as an official partner in the end credits of the film, as Montblanc-Simplo GmbH. Montblanc also released a few advertisements related to the film, in which they promote a yellow gold coloured Montblanc Meisterstück fountain pen, even though the pen in the film is white gold or champagne coloured metal.

Roger Moore himself apparently was also a fan of Montblanc pens. In a 2010 interview with the Sunday Times, he is asked what is his money weakness and he answers:

"Pens. I have hundreds of them, all Montblanc. I am sitting at my desk now looking at them, except most don't work."

This is not the only gadget pen used by James Bond: in GoldenEye (1995), Q gives him a Parker Jotter pen that doubles as an explosive device. And in the unofficial James Bond film Never Say Never Again, which was released in the same year as Octopussy, James Bond uses a fountain pen that doubles as a gun.
