Wilson and Broccoli commented, “It is both an honour and a privilege to receive the CBE and we are grateful to all those who have worked with us within the British film industry.”
Daniel Craig was made a CMG (Companion of the Order of St Michael and St George), an honour that’s traditionally reserved for spies, diplomats, ambassadors and Foreign Office workers.

British honours are awarded on merit, for exceptional achievement or service.
The system is overseen by the Cabinet Office Honours and Appointments Secretariat, and British nationals or citizens of the 15 Commonwealth realms can be nominated.
King George V created the Orders of the British Empire honours during World War One and they are now awarded for prominent national or regional roles and to those making distinguished or notable contributions in their own specific areas of activity.
The Order of St Michael and St George was founded by King George III in 1818 and is awarded to British subjects who have rendered extraordinary and important services abroad or in the Commonwealth.

Commander Craig’s appointment as an honorary officer reflects his personal support for HM Armed Forces and links it with the legacy created through the guise of fictional British secret agent James Bond.
Honours received by other James Bond actors
Other Bond actors also received recognition for their work. Sir Sean Connery was knighted by the Queen in 2000, and Sir Roger Moore was knighted by the Queen in 2003 for his humanitarian work with UNICEF.
Also in 2003, Pierce Brosnan received an honorary OBE from the Queen. The award, for services to drama and the British film industry, is honorary because Brosnan is Irish.
